ABOUT KATE

Hi I'm Kate

I'm so happy to connect with you

I am a Yoga Teacher, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and NeuroAffective Touch provider based in San Diego, California.

My passion for this work has come from my own embodied experience of healing through yoga and SE. Years ago when I was living in New York and struggling with anxiety, depression, lack of motivation and disconnection from myself and others, I stumbled into a Jivamukti yoga studio. Taking my first yoga class was a powerful and cathartic experience. I found myself crying on the mat and felt such a release of emotion and sense of relief, that I was drawn towards continued practice.

The words that come to mind from the beginning of my yoga and embodiment journey are MOVE, PAUSE & FEEL. For the first time I was beginning to experience these qualities.

I was also painfully shy and was struggling with connecting to others. Attending classes at the studio brought an experience of community and connection I had been longing for.

My path led me to move to Hong Kong where I found the spiritual and physical teachings of Anusara yoga. Through my practice I began to experience less anxiety, more openness and expansion and a deep connection to community. It was in Hong Kong that I was asked to teach and though I was shy and more reserved, I found I had a love for teaching. I wanted to offer the practices that had been so instrumental in my growth and healing to others. I taught public classes and offered private sessions.

Years later, after moving from Hong Kong to Turkey, I ended up in San Diego, California. This is where I found the profound teachings and healing gift of Somatic Experiencing. I was fortunate to be learning in real time about my nervous system, my massive flight pattern I had developed from early on, the immense anxiety I carried in my body that led to physical ailments, fear, lack of confidence and the inability to form strong attachments with others. Somatic Experiencing helped me to bloom where I was planted, to see myself and the world around me with more clarity and to ask for and receive support from others. SE helped me bridge the gap between mind and body towards mind/body integration.

A full circle back to MOVE, PAUSE & FEEL.

My intention is to support my clients with connecting to their bodies, moving thwarted survival energy through and out,  finding more clarity in their lives, developing tools to manage stress, building self-confidence and self-esteem and re-claiming their life force energy. I am here to support you in your healing journey.
