SOMATIC EXPEREIENCING

Somatic Experiencing® is a holistic practice that focuses on establishing a connection with the body in order to help you be with and meet yourself more fully. First proposed by Dr. Peter Levine, Somatic Experiencing® explores intersectional techniques and theories from psychology, physiology, biology and other healing influences, and implements them into one holistic approach. Through a gentle and collaborative process, we will begin to learn the language of your body and nervous system. We begin to understand our reasons for holding our management patterns, and then we learn how to gently shift these patterns into supportive and expansive ways of being.   We'll find a more embodied and true version of you together.

Somatic Experiencing® is a body-based, intuitive and naturalistic approach to healing trauma.

“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.”

I am also incredibly passionate about helping people heal from the impacts of developmental trauma and CPTSD. I have completed several additional trainings with Dr. Aline LaPierre, the creator of NeuroAffective Touch. This training is designed to support our bodies using touch to support what may have happened, when we were young, weren't aware, or don't have language to explain what we need. This specifically focuses on supporting regulation of the physiology of our nervous system. I have also taken master classes with various SE faculty including Dr. Peter Levine.

I often utilize touch as a way to support capacity building with the physiology of our nervous systems. I am also currently an assistant for Somatic Experiencing® trainings throughout the country as a part of it’s post-advanced program. I am able to provide personal sessions for credit to students enrolled in the Somatic Experiencing training at the beginning and intermediate level. I love being able to deepen my own awareness of my nervous system and history, while also supporting other professionals to embody and integrate the SE material in a more personal way.

Is Somatic Experiencing or Neuroaffective Touch for me?

Somatic Experiencing® is a wonderful healing technique for anyone. I believe that everyone deserves to find the truest versions of themselves, and SE is an incredibly supportive and intuitive method to do that with. It's particularly helpful for people who have a history of stress or trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, had a difficult childhood and more. SE® can be foundational to helping you shift the way you relate with your body, your thoughts, and ultimately with what happened to you. We might be working with a specific event that you're aware of, or if you aren't the beauty of SE is that we don't need to know specifics to facilitate healing. We can find what you might be holding and find ways to get you relief and ease, even if we never talk about what happened or don't know what happened. In working together with Somatic Experiencing®, we often use attention to epxlore physical sensations, postures, or feelings to better understand the body’s response and support the body to move towards an integrated wholeness. Somatic Experiencing® can help anyone better understand their stress response, their body's needs, and is a supportive way to develop a deeper relationship with your body and mind.
